1 + 1 = 3

1 +1 =3

I get so many questions about my belief that “1 + 1 = 3” when I’m talking about relationships, so hopefully, this post can provide some clarity.

I don’t believe that relationships fix us or that we are not complete without a partner.

Each of the 1’s represent a whole individual. Each with their passions, goals, and dreams, along with their strengths and weaknesses.

I would and could not ever expect someone else to make me whole, as I am solely responsible for my happiness.

When you draw a ven diagram and have the overlap between the two circles, creating a new cross-section, where the innovation happens, the same thing can happen in a relationship.

That overlap is what creates the 3.

2 Whole individuals, each thriving and following their life’s purpose/mission and having the other’s passion and support, cheering them on, creates an amazing relationship.

Each partner knows that they are being cheered on to live their dreams, and when they stumble, someone will be there to have their back. That is powerful. That is love. Someone unconditionally wants you to be your very best.

And the force that the 3 brings is powerful. Just like in the Ven Diagram, it’s where innovation and magic happen.
