Faith: Building The Muscle

Faith: Building the muscle

Faith is such a magical, beautiful thing/idea (as it’s not tangible, so it’s not a thing) and it’s one of the traits that makes us uniquely human. Being able to believe/dream/imagine a reality different from that of our current situation. Sometimes I’ll substitute “faith” with “knowing” or “certainty”. Yes, most people believe that faith is only spiritual, the belief in God and/or the Universe. I believe that we also have to have faith in ourselves and the lives that we are living.

Right now, my faith is stronger than I can ever remember as I know with all my heart and soul that I am exactly where I’m supposed to be on my unique journey. Seeing my own growth of not falling back into a scarcity mindset these past few months has been huge and a beautiful lesson to take into 2026. Powerful beyond belief, and it’s not just a belief in a higher power as that’s only half of it. It’s belief in myself, knowing that this is what I’m supposed to be doing as I relaunch majagray.com and continue to build UnCharted Greatness. Writing, speaking, and connecting to whomever will listen to me talk about greatness.

I keep finding old blog posts, videos, and IG posts that I’ve created as far back as 20 years ago that all have the same theme/mission/purpose: this thread of helping people to see their own greatness within. Coming across them is such a beautiful reminder of the thread that connects everything in my life.

Sadly, so many times in the past, I would listen to society telling me that I needed to play small and put my WHY aside. I’d work on spreading the message for a few months, but then slip back into a scarcity mindset and have to abandon it for the “real world” of social pressure and making a living.

Faith is like a muscle. We need to build it not in a gym, but in real life going through challenging times, just like we build muscle lifting weights. Sometimes you try too much weight and drop it off as it’s not “time for it yet”. You go back to your old weight, but only through time can you build that muscle. Challenging times, setbacks, losses, they are like those painful workouts, when we feel like quitting, but don’t.

Which brings me right back to here and now. No longer putting my life’s mission/purpose on hold. I am 100% in from this day moving forward. No more scarcity mindset or playing small in this crazy world of ours.

I’ve known my true mission, my WHY, since 2009 when Simon Sinek gave his now famous TEDx Talk “How Great Leaders Inspire Action” as I was lucky to be on a series of monthly group calls when he would help one person work through their WHY. One month I was fortunate enough to be that person and ever since then I’ve known my WHY: Empowering people to see the greatness within them. It’s been the thread that has connected everything I’ve ever done in my life, but never been that front and center until now. No more playing small in 2026.

So back to faith, or whatever word you want to use. Do you have faith in your WHY? That “something that you know you were meant to do” or “something that you’re so passionate about”? It might not be loud, but it’s always there and if you’re willing to look back on your life, it’s been a thread connecting every moment of your life, sometimes in a big way and sometimes in a small whisper. Learn to listen to that voice, as that’s your greatness whispering to you to start.

Yes, following that at times will be the hardest thing you’ve ever done. There is a quote I love and not sure who first said it: “It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.”

Many times I’ve wanted to quit, especially when living in the Singapore Airport. But then I’d talk with a stranger and ask them about their goals/dreams, and that conversation with a stranger would keep me going.

Don’t quit. Keep building that belief muscle in yourself and in your gifts, your WHY.

The world needs you, living and sharing your unique gifts, now more than ever.

You don’t go to the gym once and become strong. You go back time and time again. You change workouts, you try different weights, you mix it up until you figure out what works for you.

It’s taken me over 20 years of various challenges, huge setbacks, and mistakes I made, to be sitting here this morning writing this. Finally having enough faith in myself to truly follow my WHY.

Stepping into your greatness is no different.

As I finish up this post, here are 3 things that I know for sure:

  1. Every single person has greatness within.

  2. I’m 100% all in on spreading this message. No more playing small or scarcity mindset.

  3. Faith, in knowing that it’s all working out and that I’m connecting with the people who need to hear this message.

I’m just getting (re)started and not stopping until every single person I connect with sees that their greatness within themselves, that is my goal, that is my mission.
